Music and Sex : Is there a link ?

Once upon a time, when I used to go to Sunday School, I remember us being told about the wonders of creation. I remember being told that even birds of the air give praise to God through "song." I remember believing that story ...

Now am not too sure. I think its booty call. There is something about music and getting the groove on. Even the ugliest, and horrible noise-making animals always step up "music wise" while trying to get laid. Granted, they may not have developed complex notes but their noises come as close to music as they'll ever get when it's that time ...

Maybe it's the same thing with human beings. Maybe music is nature's way of telling us we are going to reproduce whether we like it or not. Darwin's thoughts on this subject are very interesting indeed:

“... it appears probable that the progenitors of man, either the males or females or both sexes, before acquiring the power of expressing their mutual love in articulate language, endeavoured to charm each other with musical notes and rhythm.” (Darwin, 1871, pp. 880)

Do you guys agree?

I only know of the link between death and sex (check blog header). Music I'll have to investigate then comment. I for one can get it on without any soundtracks. OK, used to those days b4 the Bilaz Train.

If singing gets you laid then I'm off for music lessons. but seriously speaking charming the opposite sex with musical notes, grooming and rythm are facts of life. In long winded speech 'Dancing is a vertical expression of horizontal intention!'

Sex n Music hv a big connection as its potrayed by most music videos.
When takin a shower how many like singing in the nude? hands up!

There r those who love gettin their freak on with music in the backgrnd...it helps stimulate their passion and arouses more desire in them esp if its soft music. Dont go playing X by xbit or DMX's ish...
@Kirima as for dancing...watch pple in clubs...aaaaa eeeee...get the drift!

Interesting and I agree. I'm also seeing the world getting filled up fast.
Your Sunday school lessons still hold true because we sing when we are free and happy (rejoicing)...that is praise.

@kirima-'Dancing is a vertical expression of horizontal intention!'???? ha

@ Bomseh: you do have a point you know ... it's better with a kaloose soundtrack ...

@Kirima: I love the complexity of human behaviour. We do not actually have to sing. We can let a maestro do it for us, and our mates will associate that with us ... so track selection is key ...

@ Unyc: Interesting tips. But it's like a manual on how to drive a stick, or how to swim - you can memorize it but until you actually put it to practice, ngumu sana, am a willing learner though ...

@ Komi: and the birds??

music usually arouses emotions and desire and if you do it right sex should be always be a rhythmic activity.

Wee Sue don't lie that u haven't been in a situation where nothing mattered. Unexpected and at the wrong place, no music available, only rhythm. If I'm lying hands up!

Do people play music during quickies in the office, lift......?

Conclusion, Music is optional. Used mostly when ur not sure of kamataing strokes. Kind of to lure that one!

@ bomseh: you couldn't be more right man. hadn't thought of it like that, but don't u have to assume prior "fine-tuning" perhaps with some ngomas in the background?

@Unyc: wee unapenda hizo za risto za lift, eh? Usidanganye ...

@ Klara: Eti u love music? Me am loving this peripheral view that you have put up ...

Music has the power to get one in the mood for sex so there's definitely a link. But depends on what kind of music--it can also arouse other emotions and feelings.
