Najivu ... oops ... Nakubaff Nikiwa Mkenya ...

beyond preposterous ...

How is this shit possible?
How is it logical?

How does one with a Kenyan Flag in the house have the temerity to tell Me:

"Wee, do not speak Kiswahili in the office!"
"You will get fired!"
"It is very unprofessional"
"That's why I respond in English everytime you speak Kiswahili to me!!"

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Remember when we were kids and used to be told things like:

If you swallow a seed when eating an orange, a tree will start growing in tour tumbo ...

or

Ukimeza Bigi-G ati it will wrap up your intestines and keep you from crapping ...

or even worse:

Ati ukikumia ile minyoo ina manyoya you'll die!!

That is how much my intelligence was insulted, nay, assaulted @ the office leo, tena by a fellow Kenyan!!

Bear in mind:

The French people in the office speak French ...
The Spanish peeps speak Spanish ...
The Foundation's mission is centered in Africa (even have an office in all 3 East African Countries!!)

etc.

Does this person believe Kiswahili to be an inferior language?
An inferiority complex?
Undue "respect" / fear for Wazungus?
An acute case of boot-licking and tail-wagging?

I subscribe to none of that stuff. I wish someone would as much as hint @ the office that they have beef with me speaking Kiswahili!!

I would demonstrate to them that:

"Nametameta nikiwa Mkenya"

Viva Kiswahili - I'll never let you down!!

Kazini ninarafiki mmoja kutoka nyumbani, nasi huwa tunaongea Kiswahili bila hofu yoyote.

Endelea kujivunia ndugu!

endelea kumetameta.....na utastuka, the reason kenyans see like swa is an infirior language is because no one can speak all of it vizuri, and on the other hand its not tamu like that you have to weka kidogo royco like this ndio ipate ladha.....but when spoken by a real swayo or TZ jamaa its taaamuuuu

Ninafurahia sana kuongea kiswahili mbele ya wangoso. Lakini huyo mwenzako amepotea kabisa there is nothing inferior at all about Kiswahili.
It used to irk us here at the office when the big bosses start talking to each other in Dutch until we decided if they speak dutch we also speak swahili now we have found middle ground with English.

Same thing goes for people who refuse to converse in their mother tongue. Is it supposed to be cool ama? But it doesn't annoy me, I pity them.

The thing is, no matter how much you master their kingoso (and it is good and admirable), you will always be Kenyan. These jungus don't try to be Kenyan in any way so why do we struggle so much? What makes them better? What makes our heritage inferior...why do we allow it?

I love swa and have no issues rapping in it, but I love my tongue even better! Keeping talking Swa and kisapere whenever possible. And if they don't allow it there, you know the floor and have the number.

Lenga that dude and do ure thing, if those junguz happen to pass by and hear him answering your Swa with English it is him who'll be making a fool outta himself, i imagine some1 asking him "I thought you said you were Kenyan..don't you speak Swahili then?" lool what would he sema?tihihi shidwe!kichwa kama mzungu.mhm.

Speak swaha and Be proud..his is a pure case of bootlicking!

Kiswahili ndio lugha yetu na inafaa iwakilishwe kila pahali.

Huyo mtu ni pumbavu tu nahafai kujidai ye ni mkenya. Kuwa mzalendo.

Despite being in a foreign country, I speak Swahili 70% of the time and English 10%. That is also one other reason why I blog, athawais sinitasahau kizungu.

LOL that is some serious non-confident person with some serious inferiority complex. Mimi when I even call home , I do not care who is listening I ongea Kikuyu proper and when I talk to whoever calls me in the office Swa, sheng, no kingoso in the mix. I'm very proud of who I'm.

hehehehe, 4 real? ati he would fire you? Remember when we used to be given discs or cow horns in school for speaking in anything, but English? Trust me, by the time my classmates and I malizad prima we spoke the Queen's English with the Queen's accent-- very proper. And so I came to the states, and I have thickened my accent because I am embarrassed of my English accent :(

Tsk, tsk, the colonial mentality!!
